Pastability…………….

If you’ve followed me for a bit, you’ll know I consider myself a lucky guy.

Good friends, great family, and my gosh, good pets!

What an awesome holiday it’s been.

One of the gifts I received for Christmas from Danielle and Jim was a Pasta Machine.

I’ve always loved pasta and anything pasta related, but had never had homemade pasta.

So, today, the better half opened up the pasta machine. I wasn’t ready, but guess what? She was!

Turns out, making pasta dough is easy.

3 eggs and 2 and 1/2 cups of flour, which I mixed in the standmixer.

I played with the dough a bit, added a little olive oil and water until it looked and felt right, and then we let it rest for 10 minutes.

Here’s where the fun began.

Pasta drying. Looks kind of creepy, doesn’t it?

Nance made a sauce out of basil and butter, and onion and garlic that really made the house smell good!

It was the best pasta I ever had.

My advice, and take it for what it’s worth, is make your own!

    Looks delicious!!

  2. I’m very proud of you, Tup. That’s a REAL pasta machine! As I began reading your post, I thought you were going to show us one of those ‘extruder’ jobs (which in my opinion are NOT serious for pasta). But what you have there amigo is the real deal, and I bet it’s made in Italy too, isn’t it? They are truly amazing machines, and I hope you have tons of fun with it.

    • Thanks Doc, it’s certainly worth the effort. Not sure if it’s made in Italy, I’ll have to take a look, it’s a heavy little bugger, all stainless. We’re going to have a ton of fun with it!

      • I’m sure you are – the Achilles’ heel of the tool are the plastic (on mine) tightening wings – mine broke at about 5 years old, but they are fairly easy to find replacements – treat them kindly. It’s an amazing device and as well engineered as any kitchen tool I’ve ever used. I’d be amazed if it wasn’t made in Italy – and I think it was first developed by the Romans. Ha.

    • Hey Doc, It was made in China! But hey, the Chinese invented pasta, right?

      • Jeeze, I thought the Italians had more pride than that.

Is that a beer can I see in one of those shots. Did you ever use beer in your pasta?
